Hrant Dink, a Turkish journalist of Armenian origin has been killed today in Istanbul, shot dead outside his newspaper's offices. Dink, age 53, got 4 bullets, including 2 in the head. Although the killer remains unknown, the police stated that according to the killing it's searching for a young man age 18-19.
Hrant Dink was a founder and a head journalist of a billingual - Turkish and Armenian - weekly magazine 'Agos'. He also worked for major daily magazines 'Zaman' and 'Bugun'. The journalist frequently published articles considering the WWI genocide commited on Armenians, that has been questioned by Turkey's officials. Because of his activity on that ground he was sentenced for 'insulting Turkish national identity' according to article 301 of Turkish penal code. Dink had also very often been receiving threats from nationalists.
According to historians, in the 1915-1917 more than 1,5 million of Armenians died in massacres and mass deportations. Turkey is rejecting responsibility for the slaughter of Armenian people.

Turecki dziennikarz i publicysta ormiańskiego pochodzenia Hrant Dink zginął w Stambule, zastrzelony przed redakcją swojej gazety. Według historyków, w masakrach i masowych deportacjach w latach 1915-1917 zginęło ponad 1,5 mln Ormian. Turcja odrzuca odpowiedzialność za rzeź ludności ormiańskiej. (ks, Polish Associated Press)

Will they now put the CNN press staff behind bars or try to do something to improve the situation? Time will show.

Ukraine: Demands of apologies for "Wisła" resettlement operation
Ukrainian World Congress demands apologies and compensations for the "Wisła" resettlement operation from Poland. The organization coordinates actions of Ukrainian associations all around the world. The Ukrainian World Congress also applied to the Council of Europe, OSCE, European Union and UN.
UWC expects those organisations to persuade Poland to apologize for resettling Ukrainians after WWII (the country borders changed significantly after the war - Edme), and also to pay them refunds for harms that had been done to them. UWC applied also in another letter to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko to ask him to bring up this subject during Polish-Ukrainian talks.

The statement wasn't directed to Warsaw authorities. In the year 1990 the "Wisła" operation (name comes from the main Polish river Wisła or Vistula - Edme) was condemned by Polish Senate. In the year 2002, the then President Aleksander Kwaśniewski expressed his regret and condolences because of the "Wisła" operation. Still, Ukrainians were demanding the apology from Polish Parliament and government.

60th anniversary of "Wisła" operation is going to be commemorated this year. During the action the then Polish authorities decided about resettlement of circa 140 thousands of Ukrainians. The main celebrations will take place in Przemyśl.

This is when things go too far. People dieing for only telling the truth, Yet don't we all grow up just so we can be truthful? I am so tired of hearing about people dieing. This world is really coming to a point where everyone is blinded from the truth, and lies now overcome everything we have known. It's kind of sad, if you think about it.

Wow, and I usually thought of Turkey as a fairly stable place :O (outside of eastern Turkey)

don't speak if you are not sure of what you have to say... you don't know anything about the pasts of these two nations.. think about the time he is murdered, just when the armenians are trying to get a chance to put their thoughts into all of the nations and just when the hardest times for turkey trying to go into the european union (while armenians trying to make turkish name bad, aren't they?) And look at the things he was trying to say: "..both nations have faults, the only way is to understand eachother and stop the stubborn behaviour, make peace.." yeah the murderer is surely a nationalist ( i hate them!!) but do you really know if it is turkish or armenian? cos hrant had haters from both nations.. did you know that? no you didn't then talk again please.. i'm always near the truth and equality but what you say is not equality, it can only be a propaganda. propaganda is not the necessary thing for equal freedom.. peace!

is united states fairly stable? is bush fairly stable? is world fairly stable? sooo could you think any place to be stable? no man, thinking like that is only daydreaming.. (and eastern tukey is turkey also, don't forget that)

experience everything!!!
I don't go about town expecting Republicans and Democrats to start firing RPG's at each other like Hamas and Fatah do in Palestine, so yes compared to many other nations the USA is "fairly stable."

And I know eastern Turkey is also Turkey, but the region has had trouble with Kurds especially, that was what I was getting it.

so can i ask you what happened in manhattan at 9/11? (do you know who did it? the man who was created by usa itself) "..compared to the other nations.." ? don't make me laugh.. if you want fairly stable go to antartica..

experience everything!!!
Terrorist attacks such as 9/11 are horrible, but Americans are blessed they do not happen every day. I don't wake up to hear that another cafe in New York was blown up or that a church exploded because of terrorist attacks. You don't see protestants boarding trains, taking Catholics, and beheading them. If someone doesn't like what their mayor is doing they don't go into city hall and blow themselves up. So yes, compared to other nations, the USA is stable.

And Osama bin Laden was not created by the USA. He was mainly funded by Muslim nations and refused to take American money.
